About Shira

I hold a Masters of Arts degree in Psychology with a Mental Health Counseling concentration from Antioch University (2003) Seattle, Washington. I am a Registered Counselor (#RC00044251) in Washington State, a member of the national American Mental Health Counselors Association and the Seattle Counselors Association. After my graduate coursework, I completed a year’s internship at a mental health clinic, during which I counseled adults, adolescents and children. After graduating, I opened my private practice. For over a decade I facilitated the CCFA Seattle support group for those living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, providing support and education to patients and family members.
Since being diagnosed as a teenager with Crohn’s Disease, an auto-immune disease, I have lived with the challenges of chronic illness for over twenty years. Key to my ongoing coping over the past many years has been my meditation practice, healthy mind/body practices, and the invaluable support of my husband, family and friends.
